If you’re going on your first horseback ride in Valencia, you probably wonder what to bring. Good news: very little. At La Vallesa a Caballo we provide all the gear (helmet included), so all you need to think about is clothing and comfort.
Clothing: comfy and tough
- Long trousers, always. Even if it’s hot. They protect your legs from the saddle.
- T-shirt or long sleeve depending on weather. Breathable in summer; thermal layer + jacket in winter.
- Avoid long cords or fringes that could snag.
Footwear: closed shoes with a small heel
- Closed shoes, never flip-flops or sandals.
- A small heel (1-2 cm) keeps your foot from slipping out of the stirrup. A short boot, trainers with firm sole or light hiking boots all work.
What WE provide
- Approved helmet (mandatory).
- Safety vest (on half-day routes).
- The horse ready with saddle and reins.
- A guide with you the whole time.
What you DON’T need
- Gloves (horses are calm; optional).
- Special riding trousers (not needed for a tour).
- Previous experience (truly, none).
A few extra tips
- Drink water before and bring a small bottle.
- If it’s sunny, cap and sunscreen. A cap that ties on is better.
- Tie up long hair. For comfort, and so it doesn’t snag.
- Arrive 10-15 minutes early for the briefing.
